Letter from the Commodore

A Note from the Commodore April, 2024

Good Morning! I trust that all of you had a good winter and are looking forward to summer!

Opening day is just 2 weeks away. We will be opening on May 1 and will remain open through November 1.

I want to take this opportunity to review important information regarding the 2024 season, and give you a year-to-date status report on club business.

Club Business

  • Jim Catallo, Treasurer, reports that 2024 season financial goals have been achieved. Jim highlights that over the past 3 years we have experienced unprecedented inflationary pressures from our service providers. Jim will review Club finances and expense increases in detail at our member meeting in June.

  • Frank Greenwald, the dock manager, reports that once again all 44 boat slips have been rented. This consists of 33 member boats and 11 guest boats plus the 4 member only jet ski slips. We have 2 new members that will be taking over 2 guest member slips. All kayak/SUP racks have also been rented. The entrance deck to the floating docks was in disrepair and was rebuilt last fall. The marina landscaping was renovated last summer. Our utilities and docks are in very good shape for the future. We have finally obtained all of the required dredging permits for the marina bottom. This work is scheduled for November 2024. The sand spoils will be placed on the beach in front of the clubhouse for further protection of that asset. We have budgeted $100,000 for this work, which we have in our capital improvement budget. Frank will give us an update at our June meeting. The only foreseeable additional work required at the marina will be maintenance, such as piling replacement and wood repair to the older floating docks, both on an as needed basis. We will continue to monitor and maintain this, our most profitable asset.

  • Our website is in the process of being updated for the 2024 season. 2024 information and the ability to book private events will be functional by opening day.
If your contact details have changed please email Patty Laxton, Club Secretary.

  • Last season we replaced the key lock at the Clubhouse with a digital entry lock. The code for the 2024 season is 1212. See instructions posted on the door for operating the lock.

  • We will be continuing trash pick up at the Clubhouse. Please no household garbage—only what you consume at the beach club or marina.  We reserve the right to discontinue this service at anytime at the boards discretion.

Event Schedule

We are planning for 2 NCYC sponsored events this summer. Both will be gratis for all members. Please mark your calendars! Our events committee, headed by Patty Laxton, Club Secretary, will be managing events. Please stay tuned for more information. To RSVP for each event please go to our website member portal. As I previously stated the member portal is currently being updated and 2024 season information should be posted by opening day.
